3 day Wedding Celebration
3 day Wedding Celebration
Published: 26 July 2017It was a twist of fate that led the couple to Hodsock Priory, a place that is now close to their hearts. They’d secured a venue close to the Derbyshire church where they’d be married but their booking was cancelled four months later. Charlotte says that despite the setback and stress, it was destiny as Hodsock was “10 times better than our original venue”. Charlotte and Ed’s first thoughts about the venue were that it was “just beautiful, awesome. We were sold from the drive in”. A few elements of the 3 Day Wedding House Party Experience were tweaked, including increasing guest numbers. Immediate family joined the couple for afternoon tea on Friday from which Margaret’s “best meringues ever” are still discussed to this day! Their Friday night supper invitation extended to their travelling guests and was catered to their exact requirements. Family guests then stayed in the 10 five star Courtyard B&B apartments and Charlotte & Ed’s parents stayed in the main House. After coming together for breakfast on Saturday, Charlotte joined her bridesmaids and Mum for wedding preparations in Hodsock’s magnificent Bridal Suite. She states “I’d give anything to stay there again”.
The couple had chosen the florist, cake maker, caterers and DJ for their reception from Hodsock’s Grand Wedding package which includes everything from bridal flowers and wedding cake to fizz and the wedding breakfast. With such a classic venue, they’d opted for a simple rustic theme in the Pavilion dressed with gypsophila, bassia and shades of lilac and purple.
Sunday’s post-wedding breakfast was a party in itself. Increased in numbers from 26 to 60 guests, everyone returned to the Pavilion for a special but much less formal meal than the night before. It really gave Charlotte and Ed a chance to relive the events of their wedding day with those closest to them and they presented the floral table decorations for guests to take home. “We think the world of George and Lynda. They really couldn’t do enough for us and made everyone feel so welcome. We love Hodsock and every time we get really excited about going back. It’s nice to have the Snowdrops and bluebells as occasions to visit and see George and the team.”
