Do you have a question?

For the bride or groom....

Q When should I start looking for wedding venues?

Most couples tend to book their venue around a year in advance. If you have a particular venue and date in mind, it is a good idea to book even further in advance to ensure you are not disappointed. There are however benefits of leaving it later - many venues offers last minute deals and late availability packages so it is always worth asking about these if you are booking your wedding at short notice.

Q How many wedding venues should I look at?

A lot of your research can be done online before you start visiting the wedding venues in person. Decide on the type of venue you would like to go for, a theme for the wedding, the number of guests you would like to invite and your budget. You can then narrow your search down to the venues that meet your exact requirements which will save you having a show round at a venue that may be over your budget or not be able to cater for all your guests for example.

Q Can you negotiate the price of a wedding venue?

Most wedding venues will have a range of wedding packages to suit most styles and budgets but if your dream wedding venue isn't offering exactly what you had in mind then don’t be afraid to negotiate as the vast majority of venues will be happy to try and tailor make a package to perfectly suit you.

Q What is the average cost of a 2019 wedding?

The average cost of a wedding is around £18,000, although in London it is higher at around £25,000. It really is important to set your budget before you start looking at venues.

Q What is the most popular month to get married?

August remains the most popular month to get married with around 20% of weddings taking place within that month. Although the summer months tend to be more popular, decide on a theme for your wedding as this will help you decide the time of year that would suit you best. If you are looking for a festival style wedding for example then the summer months would suit but equally appealing is a Winter wedding with mulled wine for your guests and roaring log fires.

Q What is the most popular day of the week to get married?

Although more than 50% of weddings take place on a Saturday, the other days of the week are becoming increasingly popular and you can often find some fantastic discounts available for mid week or Sunday weddings.

Q How many guests should I invite to my wedding?

The average wedding has around 80 guests but it is entirely up to you how many you decide to invite. You may prefer a small intimate wedding with just a few family and friends or a far more lavish affair with hundreds of guests. This all depends on your preference and budget.

Q Should I visit wedding fairs when planning my wedding?

Wedding fairs are a great way of getting inspiration and ideas for your big day and are also a great opportunity to see the wedding venue set up for a wedding. Wedding fairs take place throughout the year at venues all around the UK.
