The Priests House Wedding Venue
The Priests House is perfect for romantic and intimate wedding ceremonies and receptions in a truly fabulous Yorkshire Dales setting.
With the magnificent backdrop of Barden Tower and the splendid Upper Wharfedale valley, this is a quite superb historical and exclusive wedding venue. As its name suggests, The Priests House is grade 1 listed and was originally a former 16th century chapel serving the Tower and the local area. Lovingly restored, it has retained many of the medieval features including the open fires and fabulous log beams and provides excellent and contrasting views all around. The building consists of the House and the newly refurbished Old Chapel The House itself is ideal for small, intimate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 32 guests with the ceremony in the Old Chapel and wedding breakfast in the House. There are some restrictions on availability especially on a Saturday, but all other days are available whether for just the two of you or with just your special close family and friends. Ceremony only weddings are also available on the same basis. The Old Chapel having stood empty for some 75 years has just been sympathetically renovated and brought back to its former glory. It has a civil wedding licence for up to 90 guests and is ideal to also use for your wedding breakfast and evening reception venue too of up to 70 guests, thus providing the whole day in one location. Set in a period theme it provides a quite stunning setting overlooking the fabulous Wharfedale countryside. Whether you use the House or Chapel, you will have exclusive use of the building and immediate grounds and as we only undertake one event on any day, you will have our undivided attention throughout. We strongly recommend that you also hire the recently refurbished Barden Bunk Barn on the other side of the Tower as well which provides accommodation for up to 24 guests with one room available for use as a bridal room. This would provide you with exclusive use of the whole site for your day. The photo opportunities are endless, with superb backdrops of the ruin of the once magnificent tower, the Priests House itself, the orchard, the woods or the valley stretching into the distance. We can recommend several local photographers who have extensive experience of working with us and albums of their work are available to view at the restaurant. Debbie can also provide all your floral requirements.
- We found a long bow under the chapel floor which we believe came back from India in one of the ships accompanying the Mary Rose
- The Chapel was renovated in 2016 after being stood empty for 75 years and is now a fabulous setting for ceremonies and receptions of up to 70 guests
- The whole site is grade 1 listed and one of the most historically important in the Dales
